There’s always a moment when someone decides to change their life. It’s not necessarily a big moment accompanied by thunder claps or lightning.
For Aston RX member Julietta, it was a routine moment when she was listening to Triple M radio host Eddie McGuire one morning and he was praising Aston RX.
``I suddenly thought, `If not now, then when?’,’’ Julietta says.
``It just made so much sense to me and I thought it’s only 28 days of my life, why not?’’
A year later and Julietta, aged in her late 50s, has lost an amazing 29kg. She’s done the 28-day program twice in that time, following the program’s basic principles in between.
Pain from old injuries has reduced to being mild now but she admits she’s still adjusting to the life change.
``I went into a store the other day to buy some pyjamas and took the Large size to the counter to buy but the sales assistant suggested I buy the Small size,’’ she says.
``That’s never happened to me before and I’m still a bit shocked by it. I need to acknowledge the new me. I’m the lightest I’ve been since my early thirties.’’
Having worked for many years as a journalist and, in more recent years specialising in travel journalism, Julietta is well aware of the challenges faced by food temptations.
With summer travel on the near horizon and knowing that it can make or break plenty of diets, she’s already prepared.
``I get food and wine absolutely thrown at me when I travel but I don’t make a big deal of it – I just eat what I want to and have the rest taken away,’’ she says.
``If I’ve indulged at dinner I just have coffee the next morning. Most of the time frames Donna has set for eating work for me. If I go out late for dinner in Spain or Argentina, I just have to eat much later the next day.
``I think it’s really important not to deprive yourself. Make your choices as good as they can be and, if not, rectify them when you come home or if you do a blow out, commit to doing another 28-day program if you want to. Don’t catastrophise it.
``You still want to have a great time on your holiday but if you value your health, your holiday will be an even more engaging experience.’’
